Very Good Dives at Fire Rock and Chase Reef September 19, 2019

Last Thursday Greg Hoberg and I took his Zodiac RIB down to Fire Rock off Pescadero Point and Chase Reef near Pt Pinos.

Our first dive was at Fire Rock which allowed us to get out of the NW swell that was running.  There is some kelp at Fire Rock but less than 25% of normal, still far too many sea urchins.  We had 30 to 35 ft of visibility and 50 degree water temperature.  Below are some photos from our Fire Rock dive, for more, please go to:

I saw several Chestnut Cowries on this dive.

We had very decent visibility.

Greg spotted a Cabezon and got some questions of it, it took off just as I was shooting, he's a blur in this picture, not bad for the speed it was going!

Greg spotted a Blue Rock Crab

Another Cabezon, this one wasn't too concerned when it moved.

    Hurray, some kelp forest!

Our second dive was in the newly regrown kelp on Chase Reef, just inside Pt Pinos.  We had less visibility, about 15 to 20 ft, water temp was 52 degrees.  I didn't shoot many pictures on this dive, they are here:  https://photos.app.goo.gl/zcfCEZH27U6o197Z6

Do you see the Painted Greenling?  Lower left.

We were buzzed by a sea lion.
